Alicia Perez

July 19, 1936 — January 19, 2026

Seguin, Texas

Alicia Perez, a cherished soul and devoted servant of God, embraced the arms of our Lord on January 19, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by the unwavering love of her beloved husband, Cristobal Perez. Born on July 19, 1936, in Seguin, Texas, Alicia's journey through life was marked not only by her unyielding faith but also by her tireless work ethic and deep-rooted commitment to family and community.

From humble beginnings as a migrant worker alongside her family, Alicia learned the value of hard work early on, traveling across Texas and beyond to support her loved ones. Her long and dedicated career began at El Apache Restaurant, where she devoted over 35 years before transitioning to the SISD, ultimately retiring in 2020 at the age of 84 due to the school closing for the COVID pandemic. Her gentle spirit and determination left a lasting impact on everyone she met.

A woman of profound faith, Alicia was a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she actively participated in the Altar Society for many years. Her culinary talent was legendary, and her famous nachos became a staple at the annual Bazaar. Alicia believed that sharing a meal was a way to share joy, and every Wednesday, her home would be filled with the laughter and love of her family, often hosting over twenty guests who gathered to savor her delightful cooking and the warmth of her presence.

Alicia leaves behind the love of her life, Cristobal, with whom she shared 67 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they created a loving family that includes their children: Ruben Perez (Helen), Oralia Saenz (Keen), and Raul Perez (Dora). Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, each of whom were touched by her kindness and gentle wisdom. She is also further survived by her sisters, Mary Frausto, Teresa Gutierrez as well as numerous family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Francisca Rivera; her brother, Simon Rivera; and her beloved grandson, Ruben Perez II. Each of these individuals held a special place in her heart, and their memories will forever be cherished by those she left behind.

As we gather to celebrate the life of our beloved Alicia, we take comfort in knowing that she is now in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts, reminding us to cherish each moment, nurture our relationships, and serve others with love and compassion. She will be dearly missed.

Serving as pallbearers will be Domingo Saenz III, Raul Perez Jr., Joshua Perez, Michael Chapa, Julian Saenz, and Jayson Saenz. May their love and respect for Alicia echo through all our memories as we honor her remarkable life and enduring faith.
