Benito Martinez Herrera entered this world on March 21, 1935, in the city of Zuehl, Texas.
After 91 full and cherished years, he peacefully departed on June 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy. He now rests in the embrace of Heaven alongside his beloved wife, Cesaria Herrera; his son, Raul Herrera; and his parents and siblings.
Benito is survived by his children, Teresa (Carlos) Ayala, Mary (Gerardo) Ayala, Gloria (Ricardo) Ayala; and son Ruben Herrera Sr. His spirit lives on through thirteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and even a great-great-grandchild.
A devoted family man, Benito’s heart was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. Whether surprising family with unannounced visits, bringing thoughtful gifts or juice for everyone, or sharing heartfelt stories, he cherished every moment together.
Known for his warm personality and sense of humor, Benito had a special gift for making people laugh and brightening any room with his playful jokes—memories that will forever remain in our hearts.
One of his simple pleasures was the thrill of scratching lottery tickets in anticipation of a lucky win or, in his own words “puro perro.” He found joy in celebrating even the smallest victories with those around him.
Though Benito will be deeply missed, the love and laughter he shared continue to comfort and inspire us all. His memory is a precious treasure that will live on through the generations he so dearly loved.
A visitation will be Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Palmer Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Marion, Texas, with interment following at Marion Cemetery.
