Charles Holder

Charles "Chuck" Holder passed away Monday November 7, 2016 in Seguin Texas. He was born on December 9, 1935 in Buckholtz, Tx. The only son of Cleveland and Annie Holder.
Chuck graduated from Hitchcock High school in Hitchcock, Texas in 1954 where he played varsity football and excelled in track. He attended Alvin Junior College studying business. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 serving his Country for 22 years. He served as a Training instructor at Lackland Air Force Base and also served in South East Asia, Alaska, Colorado and Hawaii before retiring to Colorado in 1976. He started a career in the restaurant business as Bar Manager at The Hungry Farmer restaurant in Colorado Springs, Colorado going on to become General Manager in 1979. He went on to build the restaurant into a Colorado landmark. He retired in 1992, but returned in 2001 and remained there until it's closing.
Chuck married Miss Shirleene Holder of San Antonio, Texas in 1957 after a whirlwind engagement and they remained devoted to each other until his passing. Together they raised 4 Sons who all served their country in the Armed Forces. They traveled the world together before returning home to Texas in 2009. He was a member of the Rotary International, the Order of the Elks, the Guadalupe County Master Gardeners, served as President of the Colorado/ Wyoming Restaurant Association and was a 33rd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite as well as a Shriner. He loved to work on his yard and Garden, Football especially the Denver Broncos and spending time with family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland & Annie; daughter in law, Maria and grandson Shane.
He is Survived by his wife, Shirleene of Seguin; sister and brother Gloria and James Anderson of Brennan, Texas; sons and daughter in laws, Robert and Sylvia Holder of Manassas, Virginia, Stephen and Diane Holder of Williamsburg, CO, Jon and Nancy Holder of Seguin, Texas, Son Donald Holder of Seguin, Texas, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great Grandson.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Palmer Mortuary. A Memorial Service will be held at 8:30 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2016 at Palmer Mortuary Chapel followed by an inurnment escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders at 10:45 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2016 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
