Don Laughery Jr.

December 18, 1951 — October 16, 2014

Don Laughery, a man larger than life has left this world to join our Lord Jesus Christ in heaven on 16 October, 2014.

A onetime 11 year lung cancer survivor was also retired from the U.S. Army with 5 Meritorious Service Medals. Don was a man of so many talents in the military and civilian life. He had the ability to create from an image he could see in his mind. He built airplane hangars, pipe gates fence, installed 50 ft and larger bifold doors and created his own ranch from a blank piece of land that is a cowboys dream. He was respected and commended for his awesome ability starting up Army units, the last one being an Attack Helicopter Battalion.

Born 18 December, 1951, Don always had a love of horses from childhood and his love for Quarter horses after military retirement kept his career busy for 25 years of starting colts of which he had a very unique talent, to showing, solving riding problems and teaching these horses to handle and ride with the lightest touch. He broke and started dozens of horses for customers which are still loved and enjoyed by their owners today.

Then his love of the cutting horse took him to the show ring of cutting even after all his body had been through from cancer treatments and having total replacement of both hips showed courage beyond comprehension. All of Dons talents were selftaught, an incredible feat. Don lost his father Don, at a very young age and from that point decided he needed to learn many things in life on his own in which he excelled.

Don is the bravest and most honest of men that could be counted on by his true friends. He will be missed greatly by those who loved him and all around are his creations of steel and wood which will last for years.

He is survived by his wife Leticia, mother Faye step father Jay Haefele children Tracy D. Laughery Meri Shanin L. Villalobos sisters Julie Laughery, Cyndi Rexroad Sondra Jordan and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

God has a special place in heaven for Don so he may continue to ride his beloved horses, and teach and train his beloved border collies, Australian shepherd dogs that helped him move and work cattle and load them at the ranch.

A celebration of Dons life will be arranged at a later date.

To my husband I send my love and prayers for a joyous life in heaven free from pain and suffering and Don will be one I believe God will bless with crowns of love and accomplishment and blessed for his heart of gold, his generosity his strong belief in living by Faith alone. I will love you always and miss you each moment of my life. I look forward to the day I can join you again with our families.

May God love you and keep you through the promise of the sacrifice of the Cross of Salvation.
