Elizabeth Jernigan

Elizabeth Anne "Schatzie" Jernigan of Kingsbury passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the age of 80. She was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma on February 2, 1938 to Helen M. (Scherler) and Otto C. Pettit of Lawton Oklahoma.

Schatzie is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Arthur Parker Pettit. She is survived by her Husband of almost 63 years, Sam Jernigan, Children: Samuel "Craig" Jernigan, Jennifer A. Jernigan Lucas, Helen E. "Lisa" Strawn and Nancy L. Holdorf. Schatzie is also survived by her Grandchildren: Michael "Ford" Strawn, Jared "West" Strawn, Ashley E. Jernigan, Kristen L. Jernigan, Anne Polston and Sandra Holdorf, Great Grandchildren: Cashtyn Williams, Faidyn Williams, Aceyn Pratt, Kassidy Jernigan, Voncrae Recio, Izyria Recio, Duane Blackmore, Samantha Munger, Allen Holdorf and Andrea' Butler, Great Great Grandchildren: Savanah Blackmore, DJ Blackmore, Lillian Munger, Evelynn Munger, Gregory Holdorf and Tatum Holdorf, and First Cousin Jeannie Moncada.

Schatzie was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She cherished her family and led a full and wondrous life. Sam and Schatzie married when she was 17 years old and Sam was a young 25 year old Lt. in the Army. The Army allowed them the opportunity to live and explore many different places such as Greece, Spain, Italy, Iowa, Alabama, Oklahoma and finally settling in Sam's home town of San Antonio. Schatzie's love for Sam never wavered and when he wanted to fulfill his dream of ranch life after military retirement, she was ready for one last move. This time to their final home of the Double Bar J Ranch in Kingsbury. There they continued to grow their love, children, grandchildren, Hereford cows and Springer Spaniel dogs. There she lived out her life in peace and contentment for almost 43 years.

On Tuesday, September 25, 2018 Schatzie's Funeral Services were held at Palmer Mortuary Chapel in Seguin and her Burial was held at the Guadalupe Valley memorial Park in New Braunfels.
