Obituary

Frank H. Peña, a man whose life was marked by unwavering dedication, profound faith, and a deep love for family, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in his hometown of Seguin, Texas. Born on February 24, 1946, in Seguin, Frank’s journey was one of hard work, resilience, and heartfelt connection.

A 1965 graduate of Navarro High School, Frank was a beloved member of his community from an early age. He immersed himself in activities such as FFA, basketball, and track, cultivating a lifelong passion for baseball and sports that shaped both his character and his relationships. Known for the strong bonds he developed with his classmates and the warmth with which he was regarded by others, Frank’s high school years laid the foundation for a life rich with camaraderie and mentorship.

Frank began his professional career humbly, stocking shelves at HEB, a testament to his grounded nature and strong work ethic. From those beginnings, he entered the oil field industry starting at the very bottom, yet through perseverance and determination, rose to become a senior supervisor. His climb to the top required sacrifice, including moving his family multiple times, demonstrating his commitment not only to his career but to his loved ones and their future.

A man full of wisdom and stories, Frank’s personality was as large as his heart. He was known for his stern yet caring approach, serving as a mentor to many and a guiding presence. He had a deep love for baseball, often found umpiring games, embodying his passion for the sport in both watching and participating. Music and dance were also significant joys in his life, revealing a lively spirit and an emotional depth that endeared him to all who knew him. Frank’s love for gambling—always approached with good humor—along with his appreciation for a great meal and engaging conversation, made him a companion one could always count on.

Frank’s faith was the cornerstone of his strength, and in his last moments, he was eager to be reunited with his beloved wife, Mary Peña, a devoted partner whose memory he cherished deeply. He relied on God throughout his life, fulfilling his role as a man of faith with grace and humility. They were married for fifty-six years.

He is survived by a large and loving family, including his children Basil Peña (and wife Cathy), Donna Galvan (and husband Joaquin), Eric Peña (and wife Melissa), and Brandy Rangel. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Whitney Rice (and husband Cody), Amber Peña (and her children Mark Gallegos and Anya Silva), Joshua Peña (and his wife Adrianna), Alexis Peña (Lexi), Holly Kraft (wife Karlie and their daughters Kaly, Laylani, and Laylilah), Timothy Kraft Jr., Antonia Galvan (Toni), Evan, Lyndsey, Braeden, and Garrett Peña, Ariana Rangel (whose children include Aiden and Katilena), Delilah Menchaca (and her sons Ryan and Micah), as well as Taytum and Presley Rangel, his brother and sister, Johnny (Olga) Pena, Lydia Pena Morales, in-laws Josie (Ken) Thompson, Felix Lopez, Oralia (Simon) Gonzales, Esmeralda Karm, Lucy (Aniseto "Chunchi") Luna as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Peña, his parents Manuel and Antonia Peña and his in-laws, and his sisters Elisa Peña and Isabel Barrientos, affectionately known as Chavela, and in-laws Gregorio Lopez Jr, and Rogelio Lopez.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Joshua Pena, Timothy Kraft Jr., Evan Pena, Braeden Pena, Garrett Pena, Jason Luna, Desiree Luna (Dez), and Jerry Lara.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Gifted Hearts Hospice and staff, Angie Hernandez ("Butter"), and Raelynn Soto for their unwavering love, compassion, and support during Frank’s final days. Their countless hours of dedicated care, kindness, and comforting presence brought peace and dignity to Frank in his last moments on Earth and our family during this difficult time.

Throughout his life, Frank H. Peña touched many through his mentorship, his stories, and his enduring presence. He was a great father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose advice and readiness to listen enriched all who crossed his path. His legacy is one of love, strength, and unwavering faith—a remarkable life that will be remembered with deep respect and affection.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Palmer Mortuary from 5pm to 8pm. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6:30pm.
