Irene Mills Cimental, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on October 7, 2023. Irene was born on January 10, 1948, in New Braunfels, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Morris “Pete” Mills and Lorene Ellsworth Baker, grandparents John and Annie Mills and W.A. and Hulda Ellsworth, sisters Francis, Judy, Barbara, and Charmin, as well as her brothers Darrell and Ryon.
Irene had a zest for life that was contagious to all who knew her. She gained a wide range of hobbies and interests after she retired from Motorola that brought her great joy. One of her favorite pastimes was creating plastic canvas art which she lovingly gifted to her family and everyone she met. Irene had a special affinity for frogs and passion flowers; they brought a smile to her face; frogs could be found throughout her home and her prized passionflower covered her front fence every year. Country music was the soundtrack of her life and she would often be found dancing with her husband in their younger years. Irene had a fondness for gizzards, watermelon slushies, buttered tortillas, and especially enjoyed indulging in catfish and ribs at Johnny's BBQ.
Family played a significant role in Irene's life. She cherished spending time with her loved ones and capturing precious memories with her camera. Irene's grandchildren held a special place in her heart; she loved picking on them affectionately and sharing countless laughs together. Her recliner provided solace for Irene, especially as her health declined, she could always be found watching her soap operas and NCIS.
In addition to being an avid hummingbird enthusiast who admired their delicate beauty from her front window, Irene found great comfort surrounded by nature while fishing on the Comal and Guadalupe rivers in New Braunfels. These were moments infused with tranquility that she treasured deeply.
On October 18th, 2023, friends and family will gather at Palmer Mortuary for a visitation from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, allowing loved ones to pay their respects.
