James M. Kirkland, also known as "Jimmy," passed away on December 7, 2023, in Seguin, Texas. Surrounded by his loving family, Jimmy's peaceful departure was a testament to the deep bond they shared. He was born on October 3, 1943, in Gonzales, Texas to Vedna Mae (Pullin) Kirkland and Rhea Kirkland.

Jimmy had a diverse career and was a jack of all trades. With a passion for carpentry, he delighted in creating beautiful things whenever he had the opportunity. His skilled craftsmanship was evident in every project he undertook.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Jimmy had a rich and fulfilling personal life. His endearing personality made him a sweetheart and the love of Gladys' life. They shared an incredible journey of 46 years of marriage.

Jimmy had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He found excitement in watching car races and experienced serenity while fishing. But his true happiness stemmed from making and building things with his own hands.

It is worth noting that Jimmy served in the United States Army for four honorable years. He dedicated himself to serving his country with loyalty and integrity.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Rhea Kirkland; daughter, Dawn Rena Kirkland; and brother Kenneth Rhea Kirkland.

He leaves behind his beloved mother, Vedna Mae Pullin Kirkland, and his devoted wife, Gladys R. Kirkland. Jimmy was a proud father to Joseph Rhea Kirkland and Sandy Ann Kirkland. He also embraced his step-children, Gladys Rhoades, Mary Rhoades, Itesca Rhoades, Patricia Bellido, and Melissa Rhoades. Andrew Stewart (Belinda) was considered a son by Jimmy, a testament to the deep connections he formed. Additionally, he is survived by Billy Stewart, Louise Pendleton, Charles Rhoades - his cherished in-laws - as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
