John Weigand

John William Weigand, of Seguin, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the age of 86. He was born in Warsaw, Illinois on August 9, 1931 to Gertrude G. (Stuckwisch) and Clyde C. Weigand.

He is preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years, Frances C. Weigand and parents.

Survivors include his wife, Opal (Young) Weigand, son, John D. Weigand and wife Sheron, step daughters, Debbie Brown, Sandy Rice and Patsy Nolte; grandchildren, Patricia Manning and husband Aly Yahya, and Kenneth Manning and wife Misty; great grandchildren, Kaleb Manning, Klayton Manning, Rayan Yahya and Ayden Yahya; siblings, Clyde Skip Weigand and Charlotte Nagel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A proud veteran, John served in the US Army and was an active member of the American Legion Post #245. He moved to Seguin in 1972, from Illinois, as part of the original group to start up Motorola and he worked for the company for 39 years. John enjoyed many years of extensively traveling, with many different groups, throughout the United States in his RV.

Visitation will be held at Palmer Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church (935 E Mountain St, Seguin, TX 78155) on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., and a Burial will be at the San Geronimo Cemetery. The family will host a reception following the Graveside Service at the Grace Lutheran Fellowship Hall.

Active Pall Bearers will be: Kenneth Manning, Aly Yahya, Kaleb Manning, Klayton Manning, Bobby Laechelin and Aaron Bierstedt. And Austin Cooper will act as an Honorary Pall Bearer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial contributions be made to The American Legion Post #245 (618 E Kingsbury St, Seguin, TX 78155) and/or The Guadalupe County Humane Society (2484 TX-46, Seguin, TX 78155).
