Jonathan Glenn Rygg

November 29, 1970 — August 17, 2025

Seguin, Texas

Jonathan Glenn Rygg, lovingly known as Jon, left this world on August 17, 2025, in Seguin, Texas. He was born on November 29, 1970, in Harvey, North Dakota. Jon lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a passion for both family and his career.

For over 27 dedicated years, Jon made his mark in the field of Information Technology at Frost Bank. His journey began when he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Minot State University in 1993, having achieved this on a full-ride music scholarship—a testament to his varied talents. Jon was not just a skilled IT professional; he was also a genuine and welcoming presence, always making those around him feel at ease with his infectious laugh and warm smile.

The bonds Jon cherished most were those he formed with his beloved family. He took immense pride in being the father to his two sons, Tyler and Zackery. Nothing mattered more to Jon than his boys, and he devoted countless hours to creating lasting memories with them—whether through lively conversations over dinner or enjoying a backyard barbecue where he could showcase his grilling prowess. Jon’s love for cooking was matched only by his passion for music; he found joy in both singing and playing, further enriching the moments spent with his family.

Jon had an adventurous spirit, reveling in activities that brought him closer to those he loved. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the San Antonio Spurs, often cheering passionately for his teams. He also enjoyed tackling various household projects and could frequently be found sitting by the river, savoring a glass of whiskey, bourbon, or scotch while turning his thoughts to the beauty of nature around him.

Jon is survived by a loving family that includes his sons, Tyler and Zackery Rygg; his brother, Jason Rygg; his mother and step-father, Sue and Lyle Johnson; his partner, Tami Burt; his special friends of the family, Mikeala and Isabel Montez; his niece, Shanna Koch and her spouse Ryan; his nephew, Kyle Rygg and his wife Maddie; and his niece, JoElle Rygg. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins who will forever hold his memory dear.

Jon is preceded in death by his father, Glenn Rygg; his aunt, Esther Rygg; his uncle, Lowell Rygg; and his grandmothers, Betty Hanneld and Helen Vinje. Their love and guidance shaped him into the man he became.

Friends and family are invited to join together to celebrate Jon’s remarkable life on Monday August 25, 2025, at Palmer Mortuary & Cremations located in Seguin, Texas starting at 5pm. A Celebration of Jon's life will begin at 6pm. Together, they will share stories, laughter, and tears as they honor the joy that Jon brought into their lives.

Though Jon has left this Earth, his spirit, kindness, and lasting love will continue to resonate with all who knew him. As we carry his memory forward, we find comfort in knowing that Jon’s legacy of laughter, warmth, and devotion to family will shine brightly in our hearts forever.
