José Cobos Gonzalez, 96, of Seguin, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

José was born on August 1, 1930, in Lerdo, Durango, Mexico, to Salvador and Juana Gonzalez. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and his grandson, Jose Juan Gonzalez.

José was a man of many talents who lived life to the fullest. He loved sharing stories about his life and was always ready to bring humor and laughter to those around him. He enjoyed a good prank and was known for his happiness, warm smile, and joyful spirit.

José retired from CMC (SMI) in 1995 after 26 years of dedicated service. During retirement, he enjoyed traveling to Rockport and visiting the casinos. One of his proudest accomplishments was becoming a United States citizen alongside his beloved wife in 1991.

Family was always José's priority. He instilled the importance of faith and family in his children and grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with those he loved.

José is survived by his wife of 69 years, Yolanda Gonzalez; his children, Lupe (José) Barron, Juan (Mary) Gonzalez, and Rosa (Jesus) Lupercio; his grandchildren, Thomas, Antonio, Blanca, Celeste, Gina, Veronica, Juan, Jasmin, Jesus, and Jiovanna; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving family members.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Riverbend Healthcare and Guadalupe Regional Hospice for their care, compassion, and support during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held privately with family at a later date.

José will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his laughter, stories, kindness, faith, and unwavering love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
