Juan Jose Villarreal, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on June 7, 2025, in Seguin, Texas. He was born on October 1, 1954, in San Nicolas De Los Garza, Mexico. Juan was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.
Juan loved his family and was so proud of each of them. He was proud of his Mexican heritage and made sure that his family stayed informed and connected to his family from Mexico. He served in the Army for 6 years. He enjoyed all sports since his childhood but really enjoyed basketball and he participated in Roundball Ruckus tournaments with his friends for several years.
He loved working in the Public Works Department of the City of Seguin where he worked for 26 years and retired from in 2020. He took so much pride in his work there and they had a grand celebration for him when he retired. Juan also loved travelling and as soon as he returned home, he was always planning his next trip to see his family or just points of interest. He loved it when he could share his travelling with his children and grandchildren the most and they will have precious memories from these excursions. His most recent vacation to Florida with Johnny was one of his absolute favorites.
Juan will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria H. Villarreal, with whom he shared fifty years of marriage. Juan is also survived by his children, Cecilia Villarreal Salazar and her husband Danny, and Juan Jose Villarreal Jr. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Camerin Salazar and Addison Salazar. Additionally, he leaves behind his sister, Diamantina Serna, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus Villarreal Gonzalez and Luisa Sandoval Villarreal. He was also preceded by his brothers, Mario Villarreal, Alberto “Beto” Villarreal, Braulio “Lalo” Villarreal, and Luz Jesús “Chuy” Villarreal, and his sisters, Gloria Villarreal de Espinoza and Francis Juarez.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Palmer Mortuary from 5pm to 8pm. Military Honors presented by the DAV will begin at 6:15 pm and a recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at 6:30 pm by Deacon Nick Carrillo.
A brief visitation will follow on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 9 am and the funeral mass will begin at 10 am. All services will conclude at the church a Mr. Villarreal’s wish of cremation will be honored by his family.
Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church on Thursday morning as there will be no funeral procession from the funeral home.
