Maria M. Hernandez, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 3, 2024, in Seguin, Texas. Born on May 29, 1937, Maria lived a life filled with love and devotion to her family.

Maria's career was an important part of her life. For 35 years, she worked diligently for Motorola Inc., making significant contributions to the company's success. Her dedication and hard work were widely recognized by her colleagues. Outside of her professional life, Maria found solace and happiness in her faith. As a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, she drew strength from her spiritual beliefs. Her commitment to her religious community brought her immense joy and peace. Family gatherings were especially cherished by Maria. Sunday afternoons spent with her grandchildren were a highlight of her week. She made sure to attend every family function and created lasting memories with each passing moment. The love and warmth she shared with them will be forever treasured.

Maria had an incredible work ethic that served as an inspiration to those around her. As a mother, grandmother, and friend, she epitomized dedication and selflessness. She enriched the lives of those she cared for through unwavering love and support. Maria leaves behind a legacy of strength and resilience that will continue to inspire generations to come.

One of Maria's greatest joys in life was her family. Her proudest accomplishments revolved around her  grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their presence in her life brought immeasurable happiness and fulfillment. She leaves behind a lasting impact on them, instilling the values of love, compassion, and perseverance. In addition to her professional accomplishments and devotion to family, Maria had an endearing hobby. She had a knack for finding treasures in thrift stores and garage sales. Her excitement about discovering hidden gems was contagious, and she delighted in sharing her finds with others.

Sadly preceding Maria in death were her sons Larzaro Hernandez Jr. and Joel Hernandez; her life companion Tomas Barrientes; granddaughter Margarita Hernandez; parents Matilde G. Gonzalez and Jose Gonzales; sister Jovita Contreras; and her fur buddy Brownie. Although she is no longer with us, Maria's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

Maria is survived by her children Sandra Hernandez and Robert Hernandez (Kathy). Her memory will be lovingly carried on by her grandchildren: Jason Hernandez (Monica), Lisa Cuestas (RJ), Jesse Montanez (Raquel), Annette Zamora (Matthew). Additionally, she is survived by her niece Sandra Martinez Bravo (George), nephew Michael Contreras (Mary), 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Palmer Mortuary from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. and will be led by Lupita Belmarez.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. and burial will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery. 

Maria M. Hernandez was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of all who knew her. Her unwavering dedication to family, her strong work ethic, and her deep faith were evident in every aspect of her life. She will be remembered as a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and a loyal friend. May her soul find eternal peace, knowing that she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all those she held dear.

Maria's daughter would like to extender her sincere gratitude to the staff at Windsor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation and Guadalupe Regional Hospice for all of their tender care to her mother.
