Maria Villanueva

March 25, 1926 — April 13, 2018

Maria C. Villanueva joined our Lord on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the age of 92. She was born in Edinburg, TX on March 25, 1926 to Jose Chavez and Julia Quintero.
She is proceeded in death by; her parents, sisters; Guadalupe Ledesma, Antonia Chavez-Gonzales, brothers; Manuel Chavez, Christoval Chavez, two other sisters (unknown if deceased or surviving in Mexico) Consuelo Estrada and Benita Garza, son-in law Frank Rodriguez and comrade, Juanita Rodriguez.

As a young woman she resided in Idaho for 23 yrs., while working in potato fields, before returning back to Texas in 1985. She served for over 30 yrs. as a Cursillista and a Guadalupana at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was a well-respected woman and known by many at her residence of 25+ yrs., Walnut Springs Tower. Everyone knew her as a sweet woman and how she LOVED to clean. Her favorite hobbies were washing clothes and sweeping. She would not tolerate any sort of visible mess around her and would sternly express that she disliked any around her.

Survivors include her son, Jose F. Villanueva, daughter Mary V. Rodriguez, grandchildren, Marylou Garcia, Mark Villanueva, Patricia Morse, Joe Villanueva Jr., Jennifer Rodriguez and George Michael Campa; as well as numerous grand and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Palmer Mortuary Chapel from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 17, 2018. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. The Burial will follow at the San Geronimo Cemetery.
