Obituary

Michael Vasquez Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, at the age of 55, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 9, 1970, in Seguin, Texas, Michael brought joy and warmth to everyone who graced his life.

Known for his honest and caring nature, Michael was a man who always wore a smile on his face, illuminating the lives of those around him. He was not only a strong fighter in every sense but also someone who embraced each day with enthusiasm and kindness. As a country boy at heart, he cherished dreams of owning a game rooster farm, often sharing this vision with his beloved wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 33 precious years of marriage.

Michael had a profound love for his family, putting them at the center of his world. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara C. Vasquez; his cherished children, Miguel Vasquez III, Mike Perales Jr., Beatrice Cornwell, and Valerie Ceballos; and his dear parents, Miguel O. Vasquez and Martha Vasquez. He was also a proud grandfather to Jessikah, Jaydynn, John, and Jasmin, whose laughter filled his heart with joy. He is further mourned by his siblings, Martin Vasquez and Angel Vera, as well as his nephew Andrew Ramirez, whom he considered a son. Michael's legacy continues through his numerous extended family and friends, who will forever hold cherished memories of him.

Michael's interests were as colorful as his personality; he had a special fondness for roosters, a passion that reflected his vibrant spirit. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him will remember his good dancing skills, his ability to light up any room, and his genuine compassion towards others.

He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Olivia Bernadette Vasquez, who he missed dearly, along with his cherished grandparents, Angel and Rachel Vasquez, Ramon and Mauricia Barrientez. Though he is deeply missed, his loving nature and the memories he created with his family will remain etched in their hearts forever.

As they navigate this profound loss, his loved ones find comfort in the thought of Michael's enduring spirit, forever a guiding light in their lives. Rest in peace, Michael Vasquez Jr., until they meet again.

The family will receive condolences at Palmer Mortuary on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 5pm to 8pm. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6:30pm.

A final viewing will be on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Palmer Mortuary starting at 8:30am and a funeral procession will depart the chapel at 10:00am. A funeral mass will be offered at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 10:30am and interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery.

The family will not have a reception after the burial concludes but they thank everyone for all of their love and support during this difficult time.
