Olga Melton

Olga Annette Rubis Melton, age 88, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at her sons home in Seguin surrounded by her family. Annette was born June 5, 1926 in Edwardsville, Illinois to Giovanni Giuseppe Rubis and Annetta Cavaiani Rubis. She was married to Robert A. Melton USAF SMSGT Ret on October 6, 1951 in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Annette graduated from Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Illinois and received her RN from Christian Welfare Hospital in East St. Louis, Illinois. She was a registered nurse for over 67 years starting as a Public Health nurse in East St. Louis, IL, serving at the VA Hospital in Waco, TX and then beginning a 45 year career starting at the old Seguin Hospital, on Weinert St., in 1962 and retiring from Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in 2008. After retirement, she continued serving the community by volunteering with the Christian Free Clinic, Physicians Assistance program and the GMRC Volunteers.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, and her two brothers Bruno and Libro Rubis. She is survived by her daughter Mary and Ernie Trevino of Cibolo, her son John and Roxie Melton of Seguin, grandchildren Johnathon Melton and Stacey Melton, sisterinlaws Martha Rubis of Chelsea, Michigan and Rose Rubis of Bunker Hill, Illinois.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to GRMC GRMC Hospice all the doctors, nurses and hospital volunteers she worked with over the past 45 years and to her very close friends Betty Wilson, Peggy Duncan and Joyce Leissner.

She will have her cremated remains interred with her husband at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to GRMC Hospice, the Womens and Childrens Shelter or a charity of ones choice.
