Raymond Ortiz, a proud veteran and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, at his residence in Seguin, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 84 years old.

Raymond honorably served his country in the United States military for 20 years. During his service, he was awarded numerous medals, including the Purple Heart Medal, the Silver Star Medal, and the Gold Star Medal, among others. He retired on May 31, 1980, with honors as a Sergeant First Class (E-7).

Born on March 19, 1941, in Seguin, Texas, Raymond was the son of Gregorio Ortiz and Lola Perez. His father worked as a laborer, while his mother was a devoted homemaker.

Raymond had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys. He loved motorcycles and racing cars, enjoyed watching classic Western films, and spent many hours reading books and the daily newspaper. He had a special fondness for dogs and cherished the companionship they brought. Above all, Raymond loved his family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and took great pride in sharing stories of his military experiences with those closest to him.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio Ortiz and Lola Perez; his maternal grandparents, Francisco and Andrea Perez; his sister, Guadalupe Alvarado; his brother, Teodoro Juarez; his niece, Jessica Penuela; his nephews, Frank Morales and Juan Juarez; his nieces, Joylinda Juarez and Donald Gomez; and his great-nephew, Dustin Auldridge; as well as his nephews David Auldridge and Dennis Auldridge.

He is survived by his sister, Mary May of Burleson; his brothers, Jesse Juarez of Houston, Juan Juarez of Seguin, Lorenzo Juarez of Houston, Nino Juarez of Dallas, and Armando Juarez of Seguin; his sisters, Rosa Juarez of Alabama, Janie Juarez of Seguin, and Silvia Tagle of Seguin; along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Services for Raymond will be conducted under the care of Palmer’s Mortuary and Cremations. A private viewing will be held for the immediate family.
