Reyes Gonzales

January 6, 1935 — April 25, 2020

Reyes Gonzales of Seguin, Texas passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side after recitation of the Devine Mercy Chaplet Rosary prayer on April 25, 2020 at the age of 85. He was born on January 6, 1935 in Karnes City, Texas to Tomas and Adela Moreno Gonzales.

Reyes was simply a happy man, he was famous for giving his thumbs up signal. He was a good Husband, Dad, "Welo" and a Friend to all. His biggest joy in life was his love for his wife, making sure she was happy and had what she needed. He was always running off to get her favorite treat which was a banana split from Dairy Queen. He enjoyed spending time with his wife at the flea markets, bingo halls and church on Sunday's. He liked sitting outside under the carport with his coffee because he knew someone would always stop by and strike up a conversation with him. As he got into his 80's he was told he needed dialysis and he went with all smiles, he actually liked going up to get treatments until recently; July of this year would have been 5 years of his dialysis treatments. About 10 months or so ago he fell and fractured his ribs and had to do 20 days of rehabilitation in the nursing home where thereafter he decided to stay being thoughtful of his family. He didn't want to burden them with extra care he would need due to the nature of his injuries. He was able to accomplish 10 months in the nursing home, he was a trooper!

On the day he passed away he was visited as usual at the nursing home window by his wife and daughter at about 2:00 p.m. He asked what day it was and if he had to go to dialysis the next day. He told them he was hungry but just didn't know what he felt like eating, as he rubbed his tummy. He then looked at his wife and smiled and motioned her to come inside. We love you Husband, Dad, "Welo", Brother, Uncle and Friend!

We would like to thank the ladies at the dialysis center and to the great staff at the Windsor Nursing Home. We would also like to thank so many awesome people in our lives, relatives, co-workers, and special friends.

He is preceded in death by his Mom and Dad; son, Andrew Gonzales; brothers, Ricardo and Pablo Gonzales; sister-in-law, Lily Gonzales and niece, Janie Juarez.
