Richard Gonzales passed peacefully at his home in Seguin, Texas on Sunday April 12, 2015 with his family by his side at the age of 60.
Richard "Ricky" was born on October 13, 1954 in Seguin, Texas to Joe L. and Maria de Jesus Gonzales. Ricky graduated from Seguin High School in 1973 and attended Southwest Texas State University. Ricky was a member of the marching and jazz bands and later joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1974-1976.
He worked for many years at Gonzales Paint & Body Shop with his father and brothers and later worked as an Auto Body Collision Repair Instructor at Gary Job Corps and Lockhart High School.
He loved being with his family, playing the drums, barbequing, working in his yard, and taking trips to the coast.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 35 years and high school sweetheart Delia, daughter Deandra Michele, husband Daniel and grandson Matthew John Vega. Brothers, Fred Gonzales, Joe Gonzales Jr. and Gilbert Gonzales. Sisters, Josie Zanco, Rachel Sandner, Ninfa Rodriguez and Ora Davenport. Along with numerous loving family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Margaret Nieto.
Visitation will be held Tuesday April 14, 2015 at Palmer Mortuary from
3 p.m. - 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday April 15, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Pallbearers for Ricky will be nephews, Robert "Bobby" Nieto, Ervey DeLeon Jr., Andy Gonzales, Mario Moreno, Tony Ray Gonzales, Marcos Rodriguez and Corey Davenport. Honorary pallbearers are his brother-in-laws, Steve Davenport and Charlie Gutierrez. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Care Center of South Texas-New Braunfels.
