Richard Serna, age 61 of Seguin, Texas was born on December 29, 1959, in Houston, Texas to Maria and Robert Serna. He went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2021, with his loving wife of 34 years by his side.
Richard was a fun loving, helpful, hardworking, and caring family man who knew how to make anyone laugh. He brought a smile to everyone he encountered and never met a stranger. Richard loved cars, trucks, and motorcycles; he spent a lot of his weekends at car shows and swap meets. He loved talking cars with his brother, Rene and nephew, Bob. He was a regular at the local taco spots where he enjoyed morning chats with his in-laws. You could always count on running into him at Wal-Mart or find him at home in his rocking chair on the porch. Every Monday he and his wife enjoyed movie dates. He frequented Circle G’s in Poth and often made his way to Mathis, Round Rock, and San Antonio to catch up with family. He was a long time Hot Wheels collector. He made many friends during his working years at Wal-Mart and Seguin ISD. He loved being a Grandpa and made many memories with his grandchildren that they will cherish forever. He was an amazing Dad and had a close relationship with each of his kids; he was truly their Best Friend. He made a wonderful life with his wife or as he would say his “Boss”; she was his world and they spent most their time enjoying each other’s company and traveling to the coast. Richard was a true jokester and often the highlight of his daughters snap chat stories. He was an amazing man who made a huge impact in a lot of people’s lives, and he will be truly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Maria Serna; brother, Robert Lee Serna and Rodolfo Serna, and son, Richard Christopher Serna “Porky”.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ermelinda Serna; his children, Cordero (Clarissa) Barrientes, Ernestina Serna, and Brianna (Justin) Carpenter; grandchildren, Alexia, Abren, Aleeyah, Christiana, Janessa, Richard Jr, Lailah, JC, and Cordero Jr. as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
