Obituary

Robert Rodriguez Castillo, age 94, of Seguin, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.

A proud and distinguished veteran, Robert honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. He was a hard-working man who found immense fulfillment in working with construction, building and fixing things with his hands throughout his life. Outside of work, Robert was a social and spirited man who enjoyed nothing more than sitting down for a good game of poker with family and friends.

Above all, Robert’s greatest pride, passion, and legacy was his large, loving family. A truly good man and a deeply devoted father, he cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. He possessed a rare and beautiful gift: no matter how big the room or how many people were around, Robert made everyone feel as though they were the most important person in the world to him. He was the unwavering anchor of the Castillo family, leaving behind a legacy of unconditional love, laughter, and strength.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jesusa Trinidad Castillo, and his parents, Manuel & Ester Rodriguez, brothers Manuel, Alfred, Alejandro, Joe, and his sister Mary Castillo, granddaughter Regina Castillo.

Robert’s memory and spirit live on through his 11 cherished children and their families: Rachel Torres (Joe), Raymond Castillo (Sherry), Robert Castillo, Roy Castillo, Becky Herrera, Rita Ramirez, Rosanna Ramirez, Rosemary Maroti (Jaime), Rufina Wallace (Robert), Rosario Castillo, Ruben Castillo He is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, his brother Jesse, and many nieces and nephews who will miss his strength and warm presence deeply.

Visitation will begin on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 6:00 p.m. followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., and the Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 3 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery.
