Roberto Gomez Hernandez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, in his hometown of Seguin, Texas. Born on May 31, 1955, in Seguin, Roberto lived a life deeply rooted in love, hard work, and joy.
Roberto was a skilled carpenter who cherished his craft. He found great satisfaction in the idea of building something out of nothing, shaping his world with his own hands. His dedication to his work was matched only by his love for his family and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness.
He was a man of many passions. Roberto loved motorcycles, especially anything related to Harley Davidson. He enjoyed spending time cruising around the city, feeling the open road and the wind at his back. An adventurous spirit, he was also known for his fun-loving nature and warm heart.
Among his greatest joys were his grandchildren. Roberto delighted in supporting them in their extracurricular activities and treasured every moment spent with them. His family was central to his life, and his love for them was evident to all who knew him.
Roberto leaves behind cherished memories and a loving legacy. He is survived by his children, Robert Hernandez Jr., Rene Ben Hernandez, Roger Hernandez and his wife Reba, and Rachel Marie Hernandez and her husband Louis Ramon. His grandchildren, Robert III, Christian, Airyanna, and Zyler, carry forward his spirit. He is also survived by his siblings Janie Hernandez, Ruben Sanchez, and Alfredo Sanchez, along with numerous extended family members and friends who hold him dear.
Roberto was preceded in death by his parents, Dolores Sanchez and Antonio Hernandez; his beloved wife, Mary Ellen Hernandez; his grandfather, Lazaro Gomez; his brother, James Sanchez; his father-in-law, Pedro Rodriguez; his brother-in-law, Pedro Rodriguez Jr.; and his daughter-in-law, Priscilla Soto.
Throughout his life, Roberto showed us the meaning of strength, kindness, and love. He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His hands built more than wood, they built a family, a legacy, and a life well lived. May he rest in peace.
The visitation will be on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church starting at 9:30am, the Holy Rosary will be recited at 10am and Mass will be offered at 10:30am. Roberto will be laid to rest at San Geronimo Cemetery.
