Samuel Phillip Danford Toulouse passed away at his home in Marion, TX on August 12, 2025. He was born October 31, 1949. Sam and his brother Bobby were adopted by Bob and Virginia Toulouse and raised in Denton, TX.
Sam was a deeply creative and talented musician, writing and performing his own music. He played piano, French horn and guitar, but his guitar was his love. A compassionate and brilliant person, Sam loved spending time outside, and had a seemingly endless knowledge of flora and fauna. He was happiest when playing with his dogs, or visiting with family and friends. “Sammy” brought people so much joy and laughter with his stories about his adventures, and his impromptu songs.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bartell Toulouse and Virginia Lee Danford Toulouse; and by his brother Robert Bartell Toulouse Jr.
Sam is survived by his partner, Kim Wise; son Samuel Phillip Danford Toulouse Jr.; and daughter Amy Friedrich Toulouse; grandsons Caleb Scott Jackson, Benjamin Theodore Anuhea Roscoe Toulouse and Frederick Bartell Waikula La’a Kea Toulouse; and granddaughter Zenia Rosemary Braffet McIntosh; and many, many friends and family who loved him deeply and cherished the time they had with him.
A celebration of life will take place at Harmon’s BBQ in Cibolo on Sunday, September 7, 2025 from 5:00-7:00pm, with lots of good food and good music. All who knew and loved Sam are welcome. Bring your instrument if you would like to jam with the band.
