Santa I. Smith, 84, of Seguin, Texas peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Santa was born on May 4, 1942 in Puebla, Mexico to Pablo Ibarra Benitez and Ninfa Flores Hernandez. She was the oldest of five children in her family. She immigrated to the United States in the late 1960s and became a naturalized U.S. citizen on June 4, 1976. She earned a bachelors in education from Texas Lutheran College and later worked as a teacher for many years at St. James Catholic School and at Seguin Independent School District for many years. Santa lived in various states across the U.S. to include California, New Mexico, and Texas. Santa was known for her unique kindness, endless generosity, devoted volunteer work to the community of Seguin, and her remarkable empathy towards those around her.

Some of her volunteer work encompassed serving at the food pantry, meals on wheels, and being a hospice volunteer with Guadalupe Regional Medical Center for over 33 years. Santa was also a proud longtime member of Seguin Chapter 555 Order of the Eastern Star.

Santa is survived by her sister, Maria De Jesus Ibarra Vega; her nephew, Hugo E. Vega, and his family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Smith, Jr. and her parents. She leaves an irreplaceable gap in the hearts of those who met her and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
