Tomasa Martinez Mauer

Tomasa Martinez Mauer, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on July 7, 2024, in her hometown of Seguin, Texas at the age of 82. She was born on December 21, 1941, to the late Hipolito and Urbana Martinez.

Tomasa led a remarkable life as the proud owner of multiple restaurants in Seguin. Her passion for cooking shone through in every dish she served, particularly her famous tamales. Due to the love she put into her craft she was fondly known as the "Tamale Lady". 

Beyond her professional success, Tomasa's true joy stemmed from her family. She held a deep love for her children: Elizabeth "Lisa" Mauer, Mark Mauer (Donna Ford Mauer), and Angel Mauer Landeros (Elias Landeros). Her dedication and unwavering support extended to her 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly.

In addition to her immediate family, Tomasa is survived by her siblings: Mary Ann, Jose, Teresa, Juanita, and Mary Lou. Her memory will also be lovingly preserved by her husband, Gene Bohannon.

Tomasa was preceded in death by her son, John A. Mauer, along with her parents and four siblings. Despite the sorrow of their loss, Tomasa's legacy of warmth, generosity, and culinary talent will forever be treasured by those whose lives she touched.

A beacon of light in the community and a matriarch within her family, Tomasa leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace knowing that her spirit lives on through the many hearts she has touched throughout her extraordinary life.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The final visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The chapel will dismiss at 10:00 a.m. and a funeral procession will depart to San Geronimo Cemetery.
