William LaVance Byers

Born: July 27, 1983 – Decatur, Georgia

Died: July 11, 2025 – Seguin, Texas

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of William LaVance Byers, who left us far too soon at the age of 41. Bill was a man of quiet strength, deep compassion, and a love for the simple things in life. Music, especially playing guitar, brought him joy and peace, serving as a form of therapy that helped him express himself and connect with the world.

Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army, enlisting in May 2005. He served with Delta Troop 1-82, Field Artillery, and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from October 2006 to January 2008. During his 15-month deployment, he rose to the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 2010. His military service was marked by dedication and a strong sense of duty.

In his personal life, Bill was a devoted animal lover, particularly when it came to his dog, Ellie. Their bond was unbreakable, and Ellie was by his side through thick and thin, offering him love and protection. Animals had a special connection with him, often drawn to his gentle and caring nature.

Bill’s family and friends will remember him most for his warmth, kindness, and laughter. His humor and easygoing nature could lift anyone’s spirits and bring a smile to their face.

Bill is survived by his mother, Jane Byers; his brother, David Byers, and sister-in-law, Courtney Byers; his nephew, Jameson Byers; his bonus children, Connor and Lily Johnson; his wife, April Johnson; and his second cousins, Beverly Paladinetti and Cathy Robinson. He was preceded in death by his father, William Lee Byers, and his grandfather, John Marshall. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Bill’s legacy of service, love, and laughter will remain in the hearts of his family and friends. We find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, surrounded by the things that brought him joy.

A memorial funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.

Bill will be laid to rest on August 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the columbarium at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
