Dabid Urias Campos, of Seguin, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the age of 80.  Dabid was born in Seguin, Texas, on April 23, 1940, to the late Rev. Daniel Campos Sr. and Eulalia Urias Campos.

He is preceded by his parents; his son, David Campos Jr.; his son-in-law, Joe Hernandez; his granddaughter, Kassandra Nicole Mosqueda; sisters, Juanita Correa, Rebecca Gonzalez and Elisabeth Campos Ortiz; brothers, Daniel Campos Jr., Domingo Campos, Marcos Campos and Leonor Campos (the mother of his children).

Dabid is survived by the love of his life, Mary Saenz; his children, Rosemary Campos, Elizabeth Campos, Arthur Campos and Linda, Alex Campos, Priscilla Campos, Monica Campos, JoAnn Saenz, Melinda Montoya and Joe, Jose Saenz and Jennifer, Jeremy Saenz and Jessica Saenz and Taylor; sisters, Esther Sanchez, Esmeralda Medina, Esperanza Lugo and Eulalia Leal as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Dabid Urias Campos was an inspiration that could never be forgotten.  He was truly a great man all around from hard working to very well respected. From the beginning of his time, he was raised around the word of God and his father Rev. Daniel Campos filled his heart at a young age to always have faith. In his last days he really let his faith shine; he repeatedly said, “I strongly believe in prayer and trust that God has the last and final word. He trusted God’s decision and reminded us that he was “okay”. One of Dabid’s favorite hobbies was to play bingo in which he got quite lucky.  He loved going to flea markets and looking at antiques.  He was also a coffee lover and loved sweets. Dabid loved having all his kids over for gatherings or Sunday breakfast.  He loved to give positive speeches that inspired his family and to anyone else that would listen. His thought on life was to always do what mattered most and to not worry about what you could not control and to always take care of your family. This perspective in his life is what made him that cool, calm and collected man we all knew. A favorite statement of his was “to always work hard on what you want in life and never depend on anybody”. Not only did he preach this, he also lived by this his whole life. Dabid worked for the City of Seguin for 32 years as a sanitation supervisor. As if working Monday through Friday was not enough, he found part time work at Bud’s Gas Station until they went out of business.  Later, he put in 20 years at Ingram Ready Mix as a cement truck operator.  He was so dedicated to his job, with the extreme early rises to late evening shifts every day in any weather conditions, nothing seemed to stop him. He was consistently on the go.  To top this off, he managed to find a passion for music in his early teenage years. Dabid loved the beat of music and when he sang, we could hear it in his voice how much of his heart was put into it. Everyone loved to hear him sing and he loved to hear people sing along with him and throw ‘gritos’, too. Who wouldn’t right? In all this, his son, Art Campos, and grandsons, Zeke and Diego Campos would carry his legacy. Dabid’s voice will forever be music to our ears. He had such a huge sense of humor, always cracking jokes. He always knew how to put a smile on any one’s face and brighten their day. For this, Dabid Campos will always be loved, remembered and greatly missed.
