Darrell Knight was called Home to the Lord on January 6, 2023, at the age of 87 in Amarillo, Texas. He was born on March 5, 1935, to Cecil and Virginia Knight in Anna, Illinois.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Virginia; his wife, Barbara Ellen Knight; his brothers, Dave Knight and Bud Eastely; sister, Jerrie Langhan; granddaughter, Jessica Callaway Shaw and daughter-in-law, Cindy Lindsey.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Chad (Kimberly) Knight, Jodi Walker, George (Freda) Lindsey, Darlina (Eddie L.) Swain, Rusty (Ruby) Lindsey, Johnny Lindsey, Mark (Misty) Lindsey; grandchildren, Stephanie Bramlett, Christal Lindsey, Samantha Lindsey, Paul Lindsey, Clint Swain, Nicole Swain, Bruce Swain, Rebecca Calaway, Dustin Lindsey, Ashton Lindsey-Duggan, Justin Lindsey, Kaytlin Wills, Jordan Jones, Brandon Lindsey, Colton Hedrick, Alli Hedrick and, Ryan Knight, Kenzie Watkins, and Korbyn Kanyon; 23-great-grandchildren and 3-great-great-granchdilren as well a numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Palmer Mortuary. The family will recess for lunch and invites everyone back to Palmer Mortuary for a funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will follow on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery: 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78209 for a Committal Service. All services will be officiated by Rev. Bill Shockley. Everyone is kindly asked to make their way to the cemetery on their own and assemble at Committal Shelter #3 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery as there will not be a funeral procession leading to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Chad Knight, Dustin Lindsey, Justin Lindsey, Carlos Saldivar, Zack Rios and Mark Lindsey.
