Ida Jandt

May 17, 1935 — March 1, 2022

Ida Mae (Retzloff) Jandt was born May 17, 1935, in Karnes City, Texas. Ida Mae grew up in Coy City, being the oldest of eleven siblings, she helped her parents raising the younger siblings, picked cotton and other jobs to help the family. She attended Karnes City High School and was an active volleyball player. She had to quit her senior year to help the family. She met her husband of 69 years, Marvin Jandt. They married at the Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fashing, Texas on January 4, 1953. They resided in Falls City until 1962. They made their home in Seguin, had two children, David and Linda. She worked at Pam Rod for several years and decided to go back to school to get her GED, from Canyon High School in 1978. She then worked at Mission Valley Mills, New Braunfels as a Lab Tech for 30 years. After her retirement Marvin and Ida Mae decided to sell their home in Seguin and move back to the farm in Falls City.

Ida Mae was a woman of many talents, when she wasn't working she would sew our clothes and embroidery. Her passion was growing vegetables and canning those vegetables. She definitely had a green thumb for planting vegetables, her garden would be bountiful and beautiful, canning beets, tomatoes, green beans, squash, pears, peaches, okra, jalapenos, sauerkraut and pickles. She always made sure her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren had cases of pickles. Beside gardening, she also would take care of the cattle on the farm. Every day, morning, noon or evening you could find her in the utility MULE vehicle checking on the cows. She knew each cow personally and knew when they would start calving. In October 2018, they moved to Seguin to live with their daughter, Linda Wiatrek. She resided there until Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the age of 86 when she met God.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Hertha Retzloff, brother Harold Retzloff and sister Mary Lou (Retzloff) Brown.
