Leola Reed

December 1, 1938 — May 20, 2022

Leola Anderson Reed passed on Friday, May 20, 2022. She was born December 1, 1938, in Leesville, Texas to Alvin and Sallie J. Anderson. She was the second oldest child of 5 children.

She is preceded in death by her husband, M.C. Reed; two sisters, Willie J. Wilson and Ella Anderson; and one brother, Alvin Anderson Jr.

To her union with M.C. Reed, five children were born, sons, Retired Sergeant 1st Class Larry Reed of Aurora Colorado and M.C. Reed Jr. of Houston, Texas; daughters, Retired Sergeant 1st Class Charlitte Reed of San Antonio, Texas, Jeanette Reed of Seguin, Texas and Linda Davis and Sidney of New Braunfels, Texas; and one brother, Leon Anderson of Illinois. She leaves behind a host of grandchildren that called her momma, and Momma Leola. To her great-grandchildren she was known as YaYa.  She was a big part of their lives along with her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was an Auntie and Mother to all and loved everyone.

She received her educations in Seguin Public Schools. She was an active and faithful member of Wesley Harper United Methodist Church. She served as head of kitchen everyone loved her potato salad.  She was Head Usher for many years until she retired in 2012 but continued to serve when needed. She would always speak her mind and had you laughing so hard with some of her sayings.  She always told us to “keep it moving.” When people ask about her, we would say “that firecracker is fine.” She loved to dance; that’s something she never stopped doing.
