Petra Aviles

Petra Martinez Aviles went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2021 at the age of 90. She was born to Maximilano and Valentina Martinez Torrez on June 2, 1930 in Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Petra came to Seguin, Texas with her 2 young children in her early 20’s to start a new life for her family and during that time she married Martiniano Aviles and had 2 additional children. She was a very hard-working woman, and her hands were rarely still. She enjoyed cooking and watching her novelas. Her food will always be our favorite! She loved to spend time with her family and go to the Mercado or go to the Flea Markets in San Antonio. She might have been little, but she was fierce and very outspoken, she always spoke her mind. Petra also loved spending time with her grandchildren and making her home ready for their visits. We will miss her laughter, her bear like hugs and all the stories she would share with us.  She will be deeply missed by so many, but we find comfort knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord. We will cherish the memories we made with her & look forward to reuniting with her in Heaven!

If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Martiniano Aviles and her two sons, Rogelio Cerda, and Cristobal Aviles.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Abigail Munguia and her husband Albert and Annette Aviles; grandchildren, Demitria Munguia, Amy Ruiz and husband Daniel, Ryan Munguia, Brianna Aviles, Cristobal Aviles, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Serena Bejarano, Elijah Flores, Olivia Ruiz, Gisela Ruiz, and Judah Ruiz. Petra is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. followed by recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery.

All guests attending services at the church are required to wear a face covering.
