Major Robert Andrew Shambora, passed away peacefully in his daughter Robin's home December 17, 2022, he was 88 years old.

A graduate of Trinity University, Bob earned his Bachelors in Business Administration, then pursued a career as a commissioned officer in the United States Army. He served his country for twenty-three years, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

After retiring from the Army in 1984, Bob moved to Whidbey Island, Washington in 1989. He added a second home for the winter at Canyon Lake, Texas in 2006 to be near his children.

Bob was an avid sailor and exercised by taking daily walks, hiking or biking.  He was an amateur astronomer, he enjoyed painting in watercolor and in the Japanese art of Sumi and charcoal drawing.  Bob was a self-taught musician and played multiple stringed instruments including classical and flamenco guitar, the banjo and ukulele, other hobbies included: bowling, golf, and darts. Bob also had a great appreciation and respect for the scenic vistas of the great Pacific Northwest.

Bob is survived by three children, Robin Tillinghast (Michael Tillinghast); Laurin Shambora (Scott Butcher) and Stefan Shambora (Sonia Anguiano); and several grandchildren, Colby Briggs; Devin Briggs (Kati Briggs), Jacob Butcher, Cole Tillinghast, Taylor Tillinghast (Jacob Flores); and four great grandchildren, Jesse, Marci, Paisley, and Ellie. He is preceded in death by his Parents General William E. Shambora and Margaret Meyers Shambora, brother, William E. Shambora Jr. and sister, Peggy S. Loney along with several nieces and nephews.
